On March 17, the safety protocols for power-on tests of mine equipment finished a one-month trial. With its formation led by Shendong Coal, the protocols passed the review of the sub-committee for mine safety under the National Technical Committee for Work Safety Standardization. The expert panel unanimously agreed that the protocols filled a gap in professional standards for power-on test of mine equipment, and that the protocols are complete and rigorous and reach a domestically leading level.

In line with the framework of work safety standards, the protocols include general requirements, organizational measures for safety, technical measures for safety as well as instructions on the beginning, halt and ending of power-on test. The general requirements stressed safe operation of power switch and the test zone and the safety of test staff. The organizational measures for safety emphasized the use of working bill for written approvals of operations. The protocols show two innovations. First, it introduced a standard working bill for the convenience of written approval. Second, it provides a detailed operation procedure for the preparation, beginning, halt and termination of power-on tests.
